TonyBet Review
TonyBet was founded in 2003 but went under the name OmniBet back then. In 2009, poker star Antanas Guoga (Tony G) bought the bookie and named it TonyBet. The bookie is licensed and regulated by the Estonian Tax and Customs Board. Keep reading our TonyBet review to learn more about TonyBet sports markets, bonuses, and odds, as well as support and payment methods for NZ bettors.
TonyBet Bonus Offers
TonyBet has several bonus offers and likes to reward both new customers and existing bettors. The bookie’s favourite bonus type is the free bet. In almost all TonyBet promos, you benefit from free bet credits in one way or another. Here’s more about each TonyBet sports betting bonus.
TonyBet Welcome Bonus
TonyBet has an enticing free bet welcome bonus for new customers. With it, you get a 100% free bet bonus of up to 150 NZ$.
To qualify for this promo, you must register with TonyBet and make a minimum deposit of 15 NZ$. The wagering requirement is 5x your initial deposit.
To meet playthrough, you need to place one or more bets at odds of 1.5 and higher for single bets or 1.7 and higher for accumulators. You have 14 days to meet wagering after making your qualifying deposit.
After you complete the wagering requirements, you get your free bet. You can only place it on accumulator bets with three selections or more. The good thing here is that there are no minimum odds requirements.
If your free bet wins, you can withdraw your winnings as real cash. However, you cannot withdraw the free bet amount.
TonyBet Free Bets
TonyBet has a couple of free bet promos, with the first one obviously being the welcome bonus. The other free bet is part of the Forecast bonus.
To qualify for the Forecast promo, you need to deposit a minimum of 35 NZ$ in the past 5 days. If you do, you get the chance to predict the outcome of 10 matches TonyBet has selected. You do this by clicking on the “Make Forecast” button.
If you get all 10 legs right, you will get a 1700 NZ$ free bet credited to your account. If you successfully predict the outcome of 9 matches, you get a 150 NZ$ free bet. With 8 correct predictions, TonyBet will automatically credit an 80 NZ$ free bet to your account.
There are no minimum odds requirements for the free bet you get. You can also use it to wager on single or multiple events. Keep in mind, though, that you can withdraw your free bet winnings but cannot withdraw the free bet amount.
TonyBet VIP/Loyalty Program
TonyBet has a six-level VIP program which you join automatically and start at the first level. You go up the levels by collecting points that are awarded when you place real-money bets. It is important to note that VIP program levels are reset at the start of each month. At the beginning of the new month, you exchange your VIP program comp points (CP) for free bets.
You get one TonyBet comp point (CP) for every 4 NZ$ of bets you place. Your bets must be at minimum odds of 1.3 to get comp points. Here’s how many points you need to collect to go a level up:
- 2nd level - 150 CP
- 3rd level - 1,500 CP
- 4th level - 7,500 CP
- 5th level - 50,000 CP
- 6th level - 200,000 CP
Please note that when you get to a new TonyBet VIP program level, you get additional comp points - 200 CP (2nd level), 2,000 CP (3rd level), 10,000 CP (4th level), 40, 000 CP (5th level), 250,000 CP (6th level).
When the new month begins, your points are transferred to your bonus balance. You can convert every 100 CPs into 1.5 NZ$ free bets. Each month VIP program points are reset to zero.
Other TonyBet Bonuses
TonyBet has two other bonus offers you should know about. The first one is a cashout feature and the second one is TonyBet’s Bettors tournament where you compete with other punters for the top leaderboard prizes.
Cashout Feature
The cashout feature allows you to collect your winnings before your bets have been settled. To access the feature, go to “My Account” and then to “Bet History”. Alternatively, you can go to the “My Bets” tab. You can get your cashout both before and after your matches haved. It is available for single and combo bets. As with all cashout features, the amount offered is always lower than the potential payout.
Bettors Tournament
The TonyBet Bettors Tournament / Leaderboard competition is another interesting promo. With it, you place bets, earn points and compete with fellow bettors. The more points you collect, the higher you rank on the three leaderboards and get a chance to win free bets, the most enticing being 225 NZ$.
The promo has three leaderboards: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Each leaderboard has 15 places. The leaderboard you qualify for is determined by the bet stake amount for your winning bets (single/combo):
- 80+ NZ$ - Gold
- 15 NZ$ to 79.99 NZ$ - Silver
- 3 NZ$ to 14.99 NZ$ - Bronze
The scoring formula is 100 x (win amount/bet amount - 1). If you win more than one place on the leaderboards, you get a bonus. The top free bet prizes for each leaderboard are:
- Gold - 225 NZ$
- Silver - 150 NZ$
- Bronze - 75 NZ$
Free bets expire after 3 days. You can withdraw your free bet winnings, but you cannot withdraw the free bet amount.
TonyBet: Design & Usability
TonyBet is easy to use and you can access it via both desktop and mobile devices. The website layout is easy on the eye and makes finding your sports and markets a breeze.
The TonyBet sportsbook boasts the standard layout of sports on the left, bet slip on the right, and all the most important pre-match and live betting markets in the middle.
However, while other bookmakers manage to overcomplicate things and include tons of banners around these sections, TonyBet keeps things simple and functional. That was something we really liked during our tests.
The desktop site loads quickly and never lags. The same is true when you open the sportsbook via a mobile device. The bookie has a decent mobile betting app that allows you to wager via iOS and Android devices. If you choose not to download the app, though, the mobile browser layout is decent enough and it lets you wager on the go problem-free.
That’s because, similarly to betting via a desktop device, the mobile betting experience is geared towards ease of use and functionality. So, with TonyBet, punters on the go will have no distractions to divert their attention from what matters most - placing sports bets.
TonyBet Sports
TonyBet has close to fifty sports on offer at any given time. We checked each and are happy to report that you can bet on both popular and obscure sports and can choose from a decent range of competitions.
Soccer
TonyBet lets you wager on all the most popular soccer competitions in the world. The great thing about TonyBet’s soccer offering is that you can bet on both club competitions and tournaments played at the international level.
At TonyBet, you can wager on the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, Copa Libertadores, the AFC Champions League and tons of other club tournaments and competitions. You can also place bets on international events, such as the FIFA World Cup, UEFA’s Euros, Copa America, etc. Of course, you can bet on matches organized by the Oceania Football Confederation too.
Tennis
TonyBet has a wide range of tennis tournaments and events. These include the four Grand Slams, Australian Open, Wimbledon, US Open, and Roland Garros. The BNP Paribas Open, as well as the prestigious ATP and WTA Finals, are also on the menu.
The bookie also has more obscure tennis tournaments that casual bettors may not have heard about. Almost all events on the ATP Challenger Tour are on offer, and so are tournaments from ITF Men’s and Women’s World Tennis Tour.
Basketball
All the top basketball competitions are available at TonyBet. You can bet on the NBA regular season and the playoffs. You can also wager on top European basketball competitions, such as the EuroLeague, the Turkish Basketbol Super Ligi, Liga ACB, the VTB United League, the ABA League, EuroCup Basketball, etc.
When it comes to betting on basketball, the rule at TonyBet is simple - the more popular the competition, the more basketball markets you get. For instance, a EuroLeague match comes with close to 400 betting options, which is quite a lot. However, an NBA match gets double the markets at TonyBet, and there are close to a thousand betting propositions for you to choose from.
Ice Hockey
TonyBet has a comprehensive ice hockey betting offer. It includes the NHL, but the most popular hockey league is only the tip of the iceberg. Top European hockey competitions such as the KHL, Deutsche Eishockey Liga, the Finnish Liiga, the Elite Ice Hockey League, and the Swedish SHL are all in the betting offer. So are the Danish Superisligaen, Norway’s Eliteserien, the Swiss League, the Czech Extraliga, and so on.
MMA
TonyBet has a great MMA betting section where you can wager on the most popular UFC and MMA events. You can do that before the bouts start in TonyBet’s MMA pre-match wagering section. You can place live MMA bets too.
The thing we liked here was that TonyBet posts the odds for MMA fights well in advance of the bouts, meaning you can wager on the winner weeks before the fights actually take place.
TonyBet Betting markets
TonyBet lets you bet on all the most popular betting markets, from which team will win the match to the number of goals or points scored in a game. Here’s a short list of the sports betting markets that get the most traffic at TonyBet:
- Match Winner
- Over/Under
- Handicaps
- Point Spread
- Correct Score
- Half-Time Result
- Draw No Bet
- Double Chance
- Odd/Even
- Both Teams To Score
- Etc.
If you are a casual bettor, these markets will be more than enough. However, if you want to get more from sports matches, you will probably look for more exotic bet types. TonyBet has a decent selection of these, but the offering could definitely be better.
For instance, the bookie has a wide variety of alternative handicap markets for soccer matches, but it could do with more markets for betting on corners, fouls, goal attempts, etc. Similarly, alternative basketball Over/Under totals are never in short supply, but TonyBet can definitely offer more player points, assists, and rebound props too.
In-Play Betting & Live betting
TonyBet has a decent live betting section. In fact, most of the games you will find in the pre-match wagering offer are also available as in-play betting options once they start.
Once again, as with the pre-match betting section, when betting live at TonyBet, you get all the main in-play wagering options, such as which team will win, which side will triumph in the rest of the match, Over/Under totals, handicaps, etc.
However, TonyBet’s live betting section would have been even better if it also included more exotic in-play markets, especially those that allow you to bet on individual player performances.
TonyBet Odds
Don’t get us wrong, the odds at TonyBet are decent. In fact, if we had to compare the TonyBet margin on odds to other betting operators, we would say that the odds are smack in the middle of what is considered the industry average.
However, the bookie may look into boosting its odds a little to make them stand out and attract more NZ bettors. Alternatively, TonyBet might want to consider including some enhanced odds promos in its offer as it currently doesn’t have any.
TonyBet Live Streaming
TonyBet does not offer live streaming and that’s one of the downsides of playing with the bookmaker. However, seeing how not many sportsbooks out there have this feature, we can’t be too hard on the bookie for not offering this feature.
TonyBet Mobile App
Bettors on the go will be happy to learn that TonyBet has a dedicated mobile betting app. The app is easy to use and you can download itctly from TonyBet when you access the site via mobile devices.
With it, you get all the perks of the desktop betting site. Unfortunately, there aren’t any mobile-specific promos that you can trigger when downloading the app or referring a friend.
Nevertheless, the app design is top-drawer and the layout makes navigating the menus and markets the easiest thing in the world. So, the bookie gets back some of the points it loses for its lack of mobile promos.
Even better, Android and iOS users low on space and memory don’t have to download the app to place mobile bets if they don’t want to. The TonyBet betting platform is optimized for mobile devices, meaning all you need to do to place bets via mobile is to open TonyBet through your mobile browser.
TonyBet Customer Service
TonyBet has a 24/7 customer support service. And that’s great. However, before contacting support, punters often check the FAQ section of a bookie. That way, they often find all the answers they need without having to get in touch with the sportsbook.
However, opening TonyBet’s FAQ section won’t give you much information other than what you know already. So, that’s one of the things the bookie can improve. Another help-desk element TonyBet can make better is to add phone support.
Live Chat
The easiest way to get answers at TonyBet is to use the live chat option. With it, you select the type of query you have and make the process of getting an answer even faster.
Email
You can also contact TonyBet via email at [email protected]. However, keep in mind that email queries won’t be answered as fast as those made via the live chat option.
